Denise McPherson is an oil painter based in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Born and raised in South Carolina, Denise studied Communications in college in Nashville, Tennessee where she met her husband. After twelve years in Tennessee, she and her family relocated to the small town of Stuart’s Draft, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Forever in awe of nature, Denise loves painting the natural landscape and the beauty found therein. Inspired by the early impressionists, she often utilizes broken color, loose brushstrokes and painterly marks to capture the feeling and essence of a scene. Whether it’s big open skies, rolling hills and mountains, or a vast, endless sea, you’ll often find themes of solitude, peace and nostalgia in her work.

As a mother of three, Denise spends the majority of her time raising and homeschooling her twin boys and daughter. The joy and beauty she experiences in motherhood often finds it way into her work. From tender moments between a mother and child to children frolicking on the beach, she enjoys capturing the little moments that make life so magical.

Her work can be found in private collections across the United States.
